Our Story
The story of La Sous Cuisine began in Haiti, where Lovelie was raised by her grandmother, Mrs. Jacqueline Charles at the tender age of 2-years-old.
Mrs. Charles loved to cook and was a well-known leader in the community. Her hospitality and warmth in the village of Saul-Du-Baril in Haiti made her a beloved in the town. She was well known for her cooking and the deliciousness of her pastries and the coffee she would serve the community. Visiting her grandmother’s home was frequently an excuse to simply be able to partake of her preparations and hospitality.
Cooking for people was a way the household expressed love and openness. Since they were influential people in the community and their hospitality was well known, neighbors consistently streamed to the house, hosted by Mrs. Charles and increasingly by Lovelie herself.
Having this kind of memory really inspired Lovelie to create La Sous Cuisine. During the Covid-19 pandemic in May 2020, which caused a lot of pain and grief in the whole world, in Nassau County, NY, people were quarantined at home with their family members.
A lot of businesses such as restaurants were closing their doors to ensure the safety of the community. Based on these observations, Lovelie felt very compelled and launched La Sous Cuisine for Mother’s Day.
All this comes from a place of love. Seeing people craving good food and social interaction really warmed Lovelie’s heart so she offered her friends and family the opportunity to order curbed side pickup meal packages for their mothers and loved ones.
Lovelie felt very pleased to be able to support her community in such a trying time. Her goal is to continue supporting her community by providing them with fresh and delicious meals.
Today, the story of Las Sous Cuisine continues the loving tradition of Mrs. Jacqueline Charles thru her granddaughter, Lovelie from Haiti, and hopefully, you’ll be a partaker.
